Geography
Bazaruto is one of the four main islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Magaruque, Benguerra and St. Carolina complement the archipelago, which was declared in the seventies to the National Park. The island is 31 km long from north to south, and up to 6 km wide. Capital is Asneira on the west coast facing the mainland.
The Bazaruto Archipelago is located between Vilanculos and Inhassoro ( Inhambane province ), about ten kilometers away from the coast. It belongs to the district of Vilanculos Inhambane province. The waters are home to a rich marine life, among other things you can find there some specimens of the endangered dugongs and the Chinese white dolphin.
