BC Azovmash

BK Asowmasch Mariupol (Ukrainian баскетбольний клуб Азовмаш Маріуполь; Russian БК " Азовмаш » Мариупол ) is a Ukrainian professional basketball club from Mariupol. The club currently plays in the Ukrainian Superleague. In addition to the Ukrainian championship of the club playing in the ULEB Eurocup and in the VTB. The greatest sporting achievement was reaching the finals of the FIBA EuroCup 2007 compared CB Girona.

History

After the war, first the local sporting clubs SK Azov and SK Asowstal participated at regional and national level championship games in basketball, was the leading basketball club in the region Mariupol in the 1970s, the SK Nowator. The team was led by Valentin Roma Nets, which should be a determining personality for basketball in Mariupol in the following years. On August 22, 1991, the new club now Asowmasch was entered in the Register of Associations as an independent association under the Ukrainian independence. In the season 2010/11 Asowmasch reached the semifinals in the VTB United League which was lost to PBK CSKA Moscow with 57:69.
