BC Oostende

Basket Club Oostende is a basketball club based in Ostend on the Belgian North Sea coast in Western Flanders, under the corporate name of the currently competes with the sponsors name as Telenet BC Oostende in the highest Belgian league. The club was founded in 1970 from the VG Oostende out one of the most successful Belgian club teams with currently thirteen national championships and twelve cup victories. In addition, the Benelux Cup, the club won its only at discharge.

History

The predecessor club Van Neste Genootschap Oostende was four times become Vice Champion and one Cup Winners' Cup. After the relegation of this Association of BC Ostende was founded, the first team took until 1999 under the sponsor names Sunair Oostende. After the immediate rise to one lasted only for one season in the Premier League. From the 1973/74 season, however, could permanently establish in the highest Belgian league itself.

1979 came with the cup win the first title success of the club, on the 1981 to 1986 was followed by the most successful phase as it won six championships in series, four of them as doubles in connection with the Cup victory. Another double of league and cup finally succeeded in 2001 under the new name Telindus Oostende sponsors after being defeated in the preseason in the finals. In 2002, the championship title was defended, same succeeded in 2006 and 2007. 2008 they won the Cup victory last time a title under the name of Telindus, the next Cup victory in 2010 was already won as BASE Oostende.

Since 2010, the name of the team Telenet Oostende. Succeeded in 2012 with a win in extra time in the decisive fifth game of the final series champion Spirou Charleroi BC the next championship success. In the following season they beat Okapi Aalstar in the cup final with a point and also won for the first time under the new name also the cup. In the final series for the championship Ostend was this time against Belfius Mons -Hainaut, which can smooth defeated in three games and defended the title.
