Fribourg- Gottéron

The BCF Arena (formerly Patinoire de Saint- Léonard ) is an ice rink in Fribourg and the home ground of the Swiss Ice Hockey Club Fribourg- Gottéron.

History

The ice rink was built in 1983 and then took 7'720 spectators. In the first year of existence, the arena was sold out for the first time since this brand has been achieved 60 times, of which only 25 times in the season 2009/10. Since the season 2010/ 11, the ice rink is named BCF Arena since the Fribourg Cantonal Bank ( Banque Cantonal de Fribourg ) have taken over the naming rights of the ice rink for three years.

The preliminary matches of the Hockey World Cup 1990 was held partly in the Patinoire de St. Léonard. 2004 were incorporated into the existing building boxes and VIP areas, so that the spectator capacity dropped to 7'144, of which 2'109 5'033 seating and standing room. Another installation of boxes and the expansion of the seating capacity was carried out in 2009. Thus, the spectator capacity dropped to 7,000, of which 2,200 seats. In the season 2010/11 provided additional seats were installed at the expense of standing again. This reduced the maximum seating capacity initially to 6,900 spaces and a season later by a further 100 places to 6,800.

The ice surface measures 30 m × 60 m (1800 sq m).
