Bear Monument

The Bear monument in the Harz mountain range, is a historic monument on the Rambergmassiv in the district of Harz, Saxony- Anhalt. It commemorates the last hunted in the forests Anhaltisches Bear ( 1696 ).

Geographical location

The Bears monument is located in the Lower Harz Harz nature park / Saxony- Anhalt in the urban area of the valley between the district and the Friedrich Brunn belonging to the city Harzgerode Mägdesprung. To the north above the valley of cancer Bach it is in the forest of Rambergmassivs between the Viktorshöhe and the Bremen pond beside the forest path Bärweg to about 472 m above sea level. NN.

History

Last Bear in the Anhaltisches Forestry

The Bears monument marks that point at which has been killed in November 1696 in the forests Anhaltisches the last bear. Was erected the monument around 1900. It is a boulder on which a cast iron plate was attached with the following inscription.

" The last bear in the Anhaltisches Forestry was here imposes end of the seventeenth century. "

Last Bear in the resin
