Bearskin is a German fairy tale film from the year 1986. The resulting at the DEFA studios in the GDR film is an adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale Bearskin.

Action

The war is over and soldier Christoffel has no future and no money. He does not know what to do; as he encounters the devil. He offers him a pact to: Christoffel has the pockets always full of money, but he may not wash for seven years, not the hair and cut his nails and he is allowed to sleep in a bed. If he does not comply with all of these things, he will be prescribed for ever the devil.

Christoffel assumes the condition.

The future worries rid to Christoffel makes his way. Soon, however, he is lonely. The society shuns him; it is dirty, unkempt and smelly. A place to live, he finds only in prison.

He paid the debt of a goldsmith; thus he wins the heart of Catherine, the daughter of a goldsmith. However, Christoffel aware of his appearance and leaving them.

After seven years, finally he can be personally wash away the devil and returns as well-groomed man to her.
