Bedford County (Pennsylvania)

Bedford County is a county located in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 49 984 inhabitants and a population density of 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bedford.

History

The name comes from the Fort Bedford, which was in turn in 1759 by John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford named. Colonized the area of the county was before the arrival of European settlers. Testify excavations at the Bedford Village Archeological Site.

Geography
