Bedřich Šupčík

Bedřich Šupčík ( born October 22, 1898 in Vienna, † July 11, 1957 in Pisek ) was a Czechoslovakian Turner.

He won at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 a gold medal in rope climbing, becoming the first Olympic champion of the post- World War II Czechoslovakia. His winning time at a cable length of eight meters was 7.2 seconds.

In addition, he finished playing these games in third place in the individual all-around. Four years later he won at the Games in Amsterdam in 1928 with the Czechoslovak team the silver medal in the team all-around. In gymnastics rings in 1924 he reached the fifth and sixth place in 1928, on the parallel bars, he was ninth in 1924.

On rings, he also became Vice World Champion at the World Gymnastics Championships 1930 in Luxembourg.
