Beechcraft Travel Air

The Beechcraft Model 95 Travel Air is a twin-engine propeller aircraft from the American manufacturer Beechcraft.

History

The Beechcraft Travel Air was a twin-engine version of the Beechcraft Bonanza. She received the body of the G -35 Bonanza and the tail of the T- 34 Mentor. The drive initially consisted of two Lycoming O- 360 piston engines. An improved version represents the Baron

The first flight took place in August 1956. The FAA approval was granted on 18 June 1957 the serial production began in 1958 and ended in 1968 after the delivery of 720 copies.

Some models are still used among other things as a training aircraft.

Originally Beechcraft had provided the name Badger, who was abandoned to avoid confusion with the names of the NATO Tupolev Tu -16.

Execution

The model is designed as a cantilever low- wing monoplane of all-metal construction. Both the zweiholmigen wings, for the NACA 23000 profile was chosen, and the torso are performed in a semi- monocoque construction. The ailerons are simple surfaces, the flaps are slotted. The dihedral of the wing is 6 °, the setting angle of 4 °. The tricycle landing gear is electrically retractable. The tail unit is a cantilever and is also made of an aluminum alloy.

In the closed cabin is room for 4 or 5 people on individual seats. The door to the cabin is located on the right side of the fuselage. All windows are made from acrylic. The respective mean of the three side windows can be dropped in an emergency. In each case, a luggage room is located in the stern and the bow.
