Behaalotecha

Beha'alotcha (Hebrew "If you put " [ the lamps ] ) denotes a reading portion ( Parasha or Sidra called ) of the Torah, and includes the text of Numbers / Bemidbar 8.1 to 12.16.

It is the Sidra of the 2nd or 3rd Sabbath of the month of Sivan.

Gist

  • Instruction to Aaron, as the candlestick is to serve in the sanctuary.
  • Consecration and service of the Levites: You should do service from 25 to age 50, then if necessary go only to their brothers in milder services at hand.
  • Offering of the Passover offering / Pesach Sheni
  • Up and down the rising of the cloud over the sanctuary as a sign of departure or storage

Since even Rashi was able to deliver some very dark places this Sidra no reasonable explanation, it says in the Jewish vernacular of someone who approaches draws for the explanation of facts or to justify contrived justifications: " He turns as Rashi in Beha'alotcha ".
