Behçet Necatigil

Behçet Necatigil ( born April 16, 1916 in Istanbul, † December 13, 1979 there ), was a Turkish poet, author of radio plays and a translator.

The German scholar and turkologist was an important representative of modern Turkish poetry. From German Necatigil has transferred among others Böll, Borchert, calibration, Hagelstange and Rilke. In addition, he was the first author of traditional radio plays in Turkey.

Since 1980 it the Necatigil Poetry Prize is awarded in honor.
