Behchoko

Behchoko ( Tłįchǫ for " place of Mbehchoe " ), officially the Tlicho community management of Behchoko is a municipality in the North Slave Region of the Canadian Northwest Territories. Behchoko is located on the Great Slave Highway, NWT Highway 3, on the north- west end of Great Slave Lake, approximately 80 km north- west of Yellowknife.

Formerly called the community Rae - Edzo, until it was renamed in 2005. The old name went back to the two about 6 km air- line over the Lake Marian from each remote settlements of the municipality Rae and Edzo.

2006 counted 1,895 residents Behchoko, most of them of Indian origin live almost all residents for at least three generations there. It is the largest Dene community in Canada.
