Beigang International Music Festival

The International Music Festival Beigang (Chinese:北港 国际 音乐 文化 艺术 节) is a project of Beigang Philharmonic Association (Chinese:云林 县 北港 爱乐 协会) and was launched in 2006 and has since expanded year after year. It is now the largest international music festival in Yunlin County, Taiwan. The festival offers a series of concerts, usually with brass music (solo, chamber music and orchestral ) and a pedagogy project within the Chia- Hu Conservatory (Chinese:陈家 湖 音乐 学院) in Beigang. In addition, a cross-cultural program for the invited musicians from different countries will be offered. Artistic Director of the festival is the pianist Heinz Chen.

Beigang

The municipality Beigang is known for the chaotian temple, the main temple of the Goddess Mazu. Away from the spiritual holidays but lay fallow cultural life, which is why the Beigang Philharmonic Association decided to set up a music festival to life and to revive the music scene of the city. Center of the festival is Beigang, because this is where most concerts are held, as well as the entire teaching project and the samples work with the Beigang Wind Orchestra.

History

Forerunner of the " Beigang International Music Festival " was the " Beigang Music Festival ", which took place in 2005. 2006 Heinz Chen was appointed artistic director of the festival and received an order to lift the series of events on an international level. Since then, the festival great popularity among listeners, media and local politicians enjoyed. The District Administrator Su Ji- feng ( the comparable political position in German-speaking would be Prime Minister in Germany or state governor in Austria ) was annually since 2005 at events of the festival. 2007 also visited the Rector of the University of Music Detmold, Martin Christian Vogel, the festival in Beigang.

Concept

The concert series takes place in Beigang for the most part. There are also performances in Douliu and Sinying. The events offers classic Western music ( the so-called " serious music "). But large crowds also witnessed various events with popular music, such as the open air concert, titled "Cultural Interaction Night" or the " Club Concert" at a local restaurant. In the final concert of the two -week festival, the orchestra project is presented. The Festival sees itself not only as an art and music event, but also as an intercultural and especially as a social commitment: all concerts are free of admission fees. In addition, the education project is also free, which is used by many music lovers to children.

Among the supporters of the Beigang International Music Festival in addition to the city and county of Yunlin Beigang including the Ministry of Culture of the government in Taipei. Music brands like Jupiter Instruments and Kawai are also sponsors of the festival. In addition, also includes the chaotian temples to the financial supporters as well as many local businesses. The festival 2009 will be financially supported by the Sibelius Academy.

Beigang Philharmonic Association

The organization of the festival is organized by the Beigang Philharmonic Association. This association consists entirely of volunteers who realize the project free of charge.
