Beijing Genomics Institute

BGI (formerly Beijing Genomics Institute ) is a network of institutions that deal with the genetic material of living organisms. The aim of this originally founded on 9 September 1999 in Beijing Genome Institute Association is the rapid transfer of insights from basic research to applications.

There are contact points in Shenzhen ( China), Cambridge, near Boston (USA) and Frederiksberg (Denmark).

In Germany BGI in 2011 by the rapid decoding the DNA of the EHEC bacterium from strain O104: H4 known.
