Beijing Subway

The subway of Beijing (北京 地铁) is the underground network that connects large - Beijing with its suburbs. The Beijing subway network measures about 465 kilometers and is therefore before the Shanghai Metro is the longest in the world. The Metro operates daily 5:10 to 23:40, the clock in the rush hour is three to four minutes, otherwise eight minutes. 2011 were transported 2.18 billion passengers. On July 12, 2013 11.0469 million passengers were transported across the network of the metro. This is a passenger record for the Beijing Subway.

History

Beijing's subway system was the first of the People's Republic of China, the construction of it began in 1965. The first track from the main station to Pingguoyuan was opened on 1 October 1969. The distance corresponds to today the western part of line 1 and the southern part of the line 2 subway could first be used only by officials, in 1977 the use by the rest of Beijing residents was allowed.

On September 20, 1984, the remaining part of the ring line was opened and thus the split operation on two lines. On 12 December 1992, the Line 1 was extended eastwards from Fuxingmen to Xidan. A further extension of Xidan after Sihuidong was held on 28 September 1999. Since June 24, 2000, it is possible that trains can directly traversed by Pingguoyuan after Sihuidong, before that there was no direct rail connection.

Another line was opened on 28 September 2002 (western part to Huoying ) and on 28 January 2003 ( eastern part). The Batong line, which was built as an extension of Line 1 is passed as a separate line into operation on 27 December 2003. Line 5 was opened on October 7, 2007.

The opening of the Olympic Games are important for the metro lines 10 and Airport Express were held on 19 July 2008. The " Olympic shuttle " between stations " Beitucheng " and " Senlin Gong Yuan Nanmen ", which will be officially been labeled line 8, was allowed until the end of the Olympic Games but only with accreditation for the Olympic Games or with a ticket for that day be used. Since 2008, the metro is part of the benchmarking system Community of Metros. The Western Railway Station was also connected on 30 December 2012, the Beijing subway network.

Line 1 runs right under the city center of Beijing and combines including the Tiananmen Square ( Tiananmen Square ) and the Imperial Palace ( " Forbidden City " ) with the shopping malls Wangfujing, Xidan, Dongdan and Xiushui Shichang ( " Silk Alley " ) and leads in the West to the Western Hills of Beijing, past the Beijing West Railway Station. The line 1 thus represents an important east -west connection, with connection to line 2, 4, 5, 10 and the Batong line.

Line 2 runs as a ring around the city center of Beijing, for the most part under today's second ring road, the former city wall. Line 2 represents the most important transit line in the center, as they with the outer parts of the city connecting the center and the main railway station of Beijing and the airport, including on the Überlandbusbahnhöfe at Dongzhimen and Xizhimen, as well as connections to the lines 1, 4, 5, 13 and the airport line.

Line 4 runs from the northeastern station Anheqiao north across the center to the southern station Gongyixiqiao. It connects the center with the University Haidian District, as well as the Old and the New Summer Palace. At the same time it connects the new South Railway Station, and thus the head station of the high-speed Beijing- Tianjin, with the subway system.

Line 5 runs from the northern station Taipingzhuangbei to the southern station Songjiazhuang. It provides access to the lines 1, 2, 10 and 13, 16.9 kilometers of line 5 run underground.

The line 6 is also an east-west connection. It begins in Haidian Wuluju and ends at Caofang. It was opened on December 30, 2012. Its length is currently 30, 4 km and has 20 stations. It provides access to the lines 2, 4, 5, 9, 10

The line runs from 8 Huilongguan Dongdajie in the north of Beijing to the city center of Beijing. It was opened on December 30, 2012, has 12 stations and 22 km long. It provides access to the lines 2, 10 and 13

Line 9 connects the Fangshan line with the lines 1, 10, 6 and 4 starts at the station Guogongzhuang and runs over the Westbahnhof station National Libary. Its length is 16.5 km and has 12 stations. It was opened on December 30, 2012.

Line 10 runs completely underground from the western station Bagou to the south-west to station Shoujingmao while following roughly the third Beijing ring road. Another section was completed on 30 December 2012. The rest part of the station to the station Shoujingmao Xiju was completed in May 2013. The line is thus next to the line 2, the second ring line of the metro network. This line includes 57 km and 45 stations. It provides connections to the lines 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14 and to the airport line.

The line 13 extends mostly above ground in a rough horseshoe shape in the north of Beijing. It includes both end stations on the line 2 and connects the northern parts of the city of Beijing with the center.

The first phase of Line 14 was put into operation on May 5, 2013. The completed section provides for the connection of the site of the 9th China (Beijing ) Flower Expo at the Metro network. This first phase is shorter than originally planned failed, further phases of construction to be completed by 2015. On the particular line the first car of a new wider type.

The Batong - line runs above ground part in the middle of Jingtong expressway from Sihui to Tuqiao. Planning and further expansion

Because of the Summer Olympic Games 2008, four more subway lines have been built. It was especially important for the line 10, the guaranteed line 8 connection to the Olympic Park. The construction work for it began in March 2004. The Airport Express line is a line and heads northeast from Dongzhimen to Beijing Airport, 27 km and 4 stations. The opening for both lines was on 19 July 2008.

Another section will expand the line 6 for further 12.4 km and 7 stations. With the completion of the third phase of construction, which is scheduled for the end of 2015, the line will be 52 km long and have 32 stations.

Other planned lines:

Line 8 was intended as Olympic branch of the subway and connecting line 10 and the Olympic Park. The part Gulou Dajie up is done, enhancements are planned for 2013 and 2015; namely according to the South after Meishuguanhoujie over the city center.

By 2014, the following lines need to be rebuilt or expanded and opened:

  • The second phase of Line 6 of Canfang after Dongxiaoying (12,4 km and 7 stations )
  • The line 7 from the Beijing West Railway Station by Jiaohuachang ( 23.9 km and 21 stations )
  • The second phase of Line 14 of Xiju after Shangezhuang ( 35.4 km and 27 stations )
  • The first phase of line 15 from Tsinghua University East after Wangjing West (10,2 km and 7 stations )

By 2015, the following lines need to be rebuilt or expanded and opened:

  • The first section of line 6 of Pingguoyuan after Haidian Wuluju (8,9 km and 5 stations )
  • The third section of Line 8 Museum of Art after Wufutang (17,3 km and 14 stations )
  • The second section of Changping line of Nanshao according to Ming Tombs Scenic Area (10 km and 4 stations )
  • The Haidian Shanhou line of Suzhoujie after Baianhe (23,4 km and 13 stations )
  • The new airport line from Beijing South Railway Station to the new Beijing airport (37 km and 4 stations )

By 2016, the following lines need to be rebuilt or expanded and opened:

  • Line 16 of Suzhoujie after wanping (16 km and 17 stations )

Following lines are to be opened before 2020:

  • Line 3 of Tiancun after Dongba (37 km and 29 stations )
  • The third section of Line 8 of Wufutang after Yinghaizhen (5 km and 2 stations)
  • The line 12 of Tiancun after Jiuxianqiao (24 km and 20 stations )
  • The line R1 of Shang'ancun after Songzhuang (55 km and 15 stations )
  • The line R2 of Weilai kejicheng to Yizhuang Railway Station (49 km and 21 stations )
  • The Pinggu Pinggu after line of Dongba (52 km and 5 stations )

After completion of all planned 2020 lines, the Beijing subway network will have a length of about 1,000 km.

Tickets

A ride on the subway costs 2 yuan (March 2013), regardless of the route and possible transfers. There are single tickets and electronic rechargeable cards. Tickets can be purchased over the counter at ATMs and at all stations almost always. Individual tickets can be used only at the station at which they were bought. A purchase of stock is not possible. Season tickets include a rechargeable amount of money that is debited when entering the subway station. Tickets are held at the entrance to the subway to a wireless reader to open the gate to the underground. As long as one stays in the metro area, you can go wherever and as long as you want. At the output there are also barriers and the ticket is used to open again. The Single tickets are drawn there. The season ticket is also valid for the bus and can be used for making payments in taxis.

Technical information

The subway trains have a maximum speed of 80 km / h with the exception of line 6, the trains have a top speed of 100 km / hr.

The subway trains of Line 6 can transport a maximum of 1960 passengers and are the largest of the Beijing Subway.

The stop of Line 6 at the Dongsi station located 34 m below the surface, making it the deepest subway station in the network.

On the subway line 10 daily 1 million passengers were counted in January 2013 on average.
