Bělá nad Radbuzou

Bela nad Radbuzou ( German Weißensulz ) is a city in western Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It lies at the mouth of the creek in the Pössigkauer Radbuza in the West Bohemia, about 10 km east of the Bavarian market town Eslarn and belongs to the Okres Domažlice to. In the district Železná (German Eisendorf ) is a border crossing to Eslarn.

History

The first report on the site can be found in the Chronica Boemorum of Cosmas of Prague, in which we read that Duke Vladislav I could destroy a German castle at Bela in 1121. Bela was a settlement of Choden at the border to Nordgau (Bavaria) and had significant privileges as border guards. Strengthened since the 14th century was the influx of German settlers and the name Weißensulz arose. Through the village leads the railway line Domažlice - Tachov - Plana u Mariánských Lázní. Administratively formed Weißensulz from the mid-19th century, a municipality in the district court or in the district Hostau Bischofteinitz. In 1875 the church was raised to the market town. Culture and sights

The stone bridge over the Radbuza was built from 1703 to 1723 at the suggestion of Anna Marie Terezie Metternich, owner of domination Good Bela. It replaced a previously existing wooden bridge. The bridge has eight arches and six piers. Each pillar is decorated with a figure of a saint.
