About delivery and processing

The first known mention of the legend can be found in Goodspeed History of Tennessee; they reported that some people travel from far away to the place of the haunting to see the witch. Martin Van Buren Ingram published in 1894 a novel-like embodied version of the legend, which he described himself as a true description of the events. The presence of the legend in many versions suggests that it was often like passed on and embellished. The legend of the Bell Witch can be classified in a number of similar stories of poltergeists.

The story was also picked up in recent times, such as in the horror thriller The Curse of Betsy Bell ( 2005).
