Belly (Band)

Belly was an American rock band from Boston, which was founded in 1991 by Tanya Donelly and Fred Abong. Donelly chose the name " Belly " because this word is both "beautiful and ugly". The first album Star was awarded in the U.S. with gold. The decoupled single from this album Feed the Tree arrived in the UK in the Top 40, the album was still nominated for two Grammy Awards. On this success, the follow-up album King, however, was unable to match. The band broke up in 1995 because Donelly was devoted to her solo career.
