Belvedere Water Tower

The water tower Belvedere is a former water tower in reinforced concrete at the Aachen Lousberg according to the plans of the former City Commissioner of City Planning and architect Dr. William K. Fischer. The built in the years 1956 to 1958 tower was located since the 1970s, the fourth floor of the revolving restaurant " Old Aachen " and later " Liege Baroque parlor". From there, the external platform is achievable. Located under the restaurant three floors were used as office space. All floors could be reached by an elevator and walk about 173 steps. In the early 1990s the revolving restaurant was closed and opened after an extensive renovation and refurbishment work in April 2005, again as a "revolving café ". Restaurant service was late March 2011, closed again. In October 2011, the turret of the insolvent Investor Manfred Dick or the meanwhile forced manage bank IKB to Carlo Matic, the Managing Director, based in the turret multimedia agency Interactive Pioneers (formerly Powerflasher ) and advertising agency Power Radach was sold. 2012, the restaurant with a beer garden and terrace has been reopened.

Started in December 2012 extensive renovations to four new office floors rider. To this end the decades was welded unused water tank out of the building and every second of the 16 wall segments removed. The four new floors were placed on the existing floor conditions. The staircase has been recast and expanded the elevator, in which the inner cylinder open on new floors.

The orbital period of the rotating segment, where the guest area is assembled in the new 8th floor, is 56 minutes. The total height of all structures is approximately 35 m, without superstructures 32,75 m, the diameter with a terrace is 21 m, without at 18.5 m.

Since 1990, the turret is registered as a technical monument with typical '50s elements in the list of monuments of the city of Aachen. The actual water storage was paged about 1980 and is now the right of the avenue of beeches, its level is 45 m above Aachen, so that a constant line pressure of 4.5 bar is built. 1988 production was stopped completely as a water tower.
