Ben Collett

Benjamin "Ben" Collett ( born September 11, 1984 in Bury ) is a former English footballer. For headlines Collett saw him as a court in August 2008 pounds 4.3m damages for an injury suffered in 2003 zusprach.

Career

Collett played since he was nine years at Manchester United and won with the youth team to the FA Youth Cup in 2002/ 03, while he scored in the final against Middlesbrough a hit. In 2003 he also received the Jimmy Murphy Young Player internal association of the Year Award for best young player of the year. In May 2003 he suffered in his debut game for the reserve team of Manchester United v Middlesbrough for a foul by Gary Smith a double leg fracture. Collett recovered in the subsequent period no longer from his injury and left Manchester in 2005 without obligation stake in professional team. He played one more season with the New Zealand Knights in the Australian A -League and after one season with the Dutch second division AGOVV Apeldoorn, before he ended his career 22 years old in 2007.

After his career, he began studying English at the University of Leeds.

Action for damages

Collett sued in early 2008 Gary Smith and Middlesbrough FC for damages. In August 2008, Collett was awarded by a London court record sum total of £ 4.3 million. This is made up of £ 3.9 million for future loss of earnings, £ 460,000 for loss of earnings to date and about £ 40,000 for pain and suffering together. The sum was paid by the insurance of Middlesbrough FC.
