Ben Fayot

Ben Fayot ( born June 25, 1937 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourgian politician.

Ben Fayot studied in Paris at the Sorbonne and then at the Institut d' études politiques. He was until 1984 at the Institut supérieur d' Spachenprofessor études et de recherches Pédagogiques ( ISERP, now part of the University of Luxembourg ). He was a member of the party line ( Comité directeur ) of the LSAP from 1978 to 1997 and chairman of the party from 1985 to 1997. In 1981 he was elected to the City Council of the City of Luxembourg. In 1984 he was elected deputies in the Chamber, so he stayed until 1989. Member of the European Parliament, he from 1989 to 1999. From 2004 to 2009 he was president of the LSAP parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies. He was a member of the Luxembourg European Convention. He is also author of the book Socialism in Luxembourg. He is also a regular contributor of Escher Tageblatt and has published historical studies.
