Ben van Berkel

Ben van Berkel ( born January 25, 1957 in Utrecht) is a Dutch architect. He runs along with Caroline Bos in Amsterdam, the architectural firm UNStudio.

Life

Ben van Berkel graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and 1987, Architectural Association (AA ), London. He first worked in the offices of Zaha Hadid (London) and Santiago Calatrava ( Zurich ). In 1988 he founded with Caroline Bos in Amsterdam van Berkel & Bos Architectuurbureau.

In 1998, van Berkel and Bos alongside their architects design studio UNStudio, where UN stands for united net.

Van Berkel taught as a visiting professor in 1994 at Columbia University in New York, at Harvard, and from 1996 to 1999 at the Architectural Association, London. 2000 merged with Caroline Bos of a visiting professor at Princeton University.

Professor Ben van Berkel forwarded to the Academy of Fine Arts ( Städel school) in Frankfurt am Main, the architecture class ( Advanced Architectural Design).
