The Böhler path merges with the Bendahler road and the stream changes sides. Now the Bendahler stream runs left this road. Older names

First mention in 1466

The first written mention of the settlement and the forest by the stream comes from a Beyenburger official statement of 1466th There the charges of lying in the valley court Barendahl ( = bear) and the rights of the courtyard at the ducal forest, the Boele determined.

1603

On a Gemarkenkarte (1603 ) by John of the Waye carries the stream depending on the section several names. In the upper reaches to the intersection of today's Böhler Bach today Bendahler Bach as Boehler Sieffe (See: Siepen ) is called, the current Böhler Bach, however, as Laßsieffe or in the upper reaches Laßype. From the confluence of today Bendahler Bach was also named then Laßsieffe.

Today Böhler Hofer Bach was called Kotzsieffe. From its junction with the name of today's Bendahler Bach moved in front Beck ( See: Bäke ).

After passing under the Altstrasse of Barmen Elberfeld the creek was named Vurderbeck. Whether it is with the change from front to Beck Vurderbeck a clerical error is not clear. At the mouth of the creek in the Wupper the Hofschaft Vurderhöffe was in any case on the grounds of today's electronics market to Ibbert. Since there was a ford over the river, the name of the court directs presumably ago by crossing the river Wupper. Later, the names of the farms converts in Further courtyards.

1715

The Bendahler Bach was loud Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies 1715 also Capell Bach. Probably comes the name from the nearby Lichtscheid near the source located Hofschaft Capell ( In J. vd Waye: Capeller Höffe, as Kapell 1466 also mentioned). The place name Capell still lives on today in the village chapels.

In Ploennies the old Hofschaft Barendahl is now referred to in the valley as Pandahl. An etymological connection of Barendahl, Pandahl and Bendahl is assumed.
