Benedetta Cambiagio Frassinello

Benedetta Cambiagio Frassinello ( born October 2, 1791 in Langasco, Italy, † March 21, 1858 in Ronco Scrivia, Italy) was an Italian foundress. She is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church.

Benedetta Cambiagio, daughter of peasant people who married in 1816 Giovanni Frassinello. After two years of marriage, they vowed eternal chastity and abstinence for the rest of their lives. After the death of Benedetta's seriously ill sister, who was cared for by the couple, Giovanni entered the Ursuline Order in a congregation of priests and Benedetta. In 1826 she had to resign from the Order due to her poor health. After her recovery she took care with the permission of the bishop of Pavia for abandoned girls and the needy. In 1827 she founded a school in Pavia, from the Order of the Benedictine Sisters of Providence was created, dedicated to the education of girls.

Benedetta was beatified in 1987 and canonized in 2002 by Pope John Paul II.
