Benedict Zuckermann

Benedict Zuckermann (also: Benedict Zuckermann; born October 9, 1818 in Breslau, † December 17, 1891 ) was a German Jewish scholar, librarian and teacher for mathematics, science and astronomy.

Life

He earned his doctorate at Kiel University and taught at the Rabbinical Seminary in Breslau and previously since 1854 at the Jewish Theological Seminary in Breslau. Since 1857, he also managed the local seminary library whose stock he documented in the catalog of 1870. Zuckermann published several writings on the calendar has become a major issues, mathematics in the Talmud and coinage in the Talmud. His life was said to be strictly orthodox.
