Benicia is an American city in Solano County in the U.S. state of California.
Benica was founded on May 19, 1847 by Robert Semple, Thomas O. Larkin and General Guadalupe Vallejo and has about 26,900 inhabitants ( as of 2004)
The metropolitan area has a size of 40.4 km ². Geographical location: 38.07 ° N, 122.15 ° West.
The city lies at the intersection of San Pablo and Suisun Bay and is the oldest town of the county. From 1853 - 1854 Benicia was the state capital.
