Beno Lapajne

Beno Lapajne ( born June 10, 1973 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian former handball player. Its body length is 1.99 m.

Lapajne, who last played for the Slovenian club Celje Pivovarna Lasko and aground for the Slovenian national team, is handball goalkeeper.

Beno Lapajne began in his hometown at the RK Inles Ribnica with the handball game. Soon he was discovered by the Slovenian Series champion Celje Pivovarna Lasko and contracted. For Celje he debuted in the 1991/92 season in the Premier League and won the 1992 and 1993 league and cup. In 1993 he moved then to competitors RK Gorenje Velenje to collect more match practice. After three less successful years, he returned in 1996 and won back to Celje was immediately awarded 1997, 1998 and 1999 league and cup. But this time he was behind Dejan Peric mostly spare, so he moved to RK Prule 67 Ljubljana 1999. There he moved into the semifinals of the 2000 European Cup Winners' Cup and won again in 2002 league and cup. When his club ran into financial difficulties in 2003, Lapajne went to France to U.S. Ivry HB, where he was unsuccessful, however. So he moved in 2004 on immediately to the RK Gold Club Kozina in his home and in 2005 to the Croatian record holder RK Zagreb. There he won repetitively national league and cup, but hired in 2006 to the Spanish side BM Aragón. With the men of Saragossa, he moved in 2007 to the EHF Cup final, but it lost to the German SC Magdeburg Gladiators. In 2008 he returned to Celje and finished his career in 2010 with another title.

Beno Lapajne has denied 212 caps for the Slovenian national team, making his country's most capped player. With Slovenia, he moved in the European Handball Championship 2004 in their own country to the final, but it lost to the German team. In the Men's Handball World Championship for Men in Germany in 2007, he finished with his country the 10th Place.
