BenQ-Siemens
The BenQ Mobile GmbH & Co. OHG was a daughter of Taiwanese electronics manufacturer BenQ. It was created by the acquisition of Siemens mobile phone division of Siemens AG and the merger with the provider's own telecommunications division. This BenQ rose abruptly to one of the five major brands of mobile phones in the world.
History
The division has been performed since October 1, 2005 under the name BenQ Mobile, headquartered in Munich, and went forth from Siemens mobile. This employed approximately 6,000 people worldwide and was at times the largest activity range from BenQ. BenQ could produce equipment under the double name BenQ- Siemens through a licensing agreement in the next few years before all products only should carry their own brand BenQ 2010 at the latest.
After the cessation of payments by the parent company on 29 September 2006 BenQ Mobile Germany presented bankruptcy. A spokesman for the insolvency administrator Martin Prager confirmed that the official insolvency proceedings were opened by the Amtsgericht München on January 2, 2007. The production and the operation was shut down on 31 December 2006. On February 24, 2007, the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported that the last potential investor is bailed out and the company has now been shattered.
In Asia continues BenQ mobile phones are sold.
From 11 to 15 June 2007, the production equipment and facilities of the factory in Kamp- Lintfort were auctioned. The site of the plant was acquired in October 2008 by Walter Hellmich and was as the site of the later Rhine-Waal University in conversation.
Products
The E71 and EL71 are a pure Siemens development. The E71 would probably come as S85 and SL85 as the EL71 on the market, but the nomenclature of BenQ prevented this. The EL71 is the version of the slider E71, which is a classical Barphone. The E71 has a radio built, the EL71 instead an LED photo light, which can also be used as a flashlight. The EL71 is a visual link with the EF81, the E71 has its own design that is very reminiscent of the S35i and ME45. The S68 is a 13.2 mm thin phone. It is made of brushed aluminum and has a transflective display with 262144 colors.
The S88 is a multimedia mobile phone with a 2.0 -inch Active - matrix OLED display with 262,144 colors and 176 x 220 pixels. It has features such as: 2.0 megapixel camera with autofocus and 16x digital zoom, music player (MP3, AAC , AMR) and MicroSD slot, 3D surround sound and equalizer, Microsoft Outlook ® synchronization, video playback, video capture, media player, GPRS, Bluetooth, digitized voice recording and programmable soft keys. The device was available in the colors Brilliant Black and White Astral from April 2006. Due to the overall low quality of the S88 did not sell particularly well and was available despite similar technical data for well half the price of a Sony Ericsson K750i.
