Benson State Recreation Area

The Benson State Recreation Area is a state park in Multnomah County in the U.S. state of Oregon. The park is located 1.5 km west of Multnomah Falls off of I- 84th Nearby are the Shepperd 's Dell State Park and Guy W. Talbot State Park. The Latourell Creek and Youngs Creek flow through the park up to its confluence with the Columbia River.

A part of the site was acquired in 1910 by Simon Benson, a lumber baron and advocates the construction of the Historic Columbia River Highway. He later donated it to the city of Portland, which it finally did in 1939 about the state of Oregon as a state park. The Civilian Conservation Corps built 1933-1935 first paths and other facilities in the park. By 1977, the park area was extended by donations and purchases to its present size of 117 ha.

The park is a day-trip destination, the usage is chargeable. The park has a picnic area and a disc golf course. In the park is a lake that serves as the lake and the fishing and can be traveled by rowboats. Every year on the first weekend in June, the Free Fishing Day, where everyone can fish in the lake after rainbow trout.
