Bent Fuglede

Bent Fuglede ( born October 8, 1925) is a Danish mathematician who was known for his work in functional analysis, in particular by the set of bounded operators on Fuglede. He has provided significant contributions to the theory of operators on Hilbert spaces and the theory of partial differential equations, but the focus of his work is on the potential theory, about which he wrote the monograph Finely Harmonic Functions.

Fuglede is Professor Emeritus at the University of Copenhagen, but still active and publizierender mathematician. He is a member of the Danish Academy of Sciences, since 1980 the Finnish and since 1994 a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. In 1970 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Nice (Fine connectivity and finely harmonic functions) and in 1962 in Stockholm ( quasi- continuity of potentials of finite energy).
