Bentley Speed Six
The Bentley 6 ½ Litre and the high-performance variant Bentley Speed Six were Bentley car models of the manufacturer. They were formed 1926-1930 from those offered by Bentley chassis and body structures of different Stellmacher businesses.
Since the constructions given by the customers in order were getting bigger, the engine of the 3-liter model came to its limits. The 6 ½ Litre should meet these requirements. In this model, there was a 6 ½ - liter six-cylinder, with OHC valve timing and four valves and two spark plugs per cylinder.
The sports version with higher compression and twin SU carburettors was called Speed Six. 1929 and 1930 was obtained with the Speed Six version of the 6 ½ Litre Le Mans. The vehicle was very successful in racing, but did not produce the expected sales figures, which is why Bentley had to extend the model range to the 4 ½ Litre.
The annual production of the 6 ½ Litre was between 90 and 150 The sales slump in 1931 was dramatic - only three chassis were delivered within six months. The 6 ½ Litre was available in seven different chassis variants, with a total of 544 chassis were produced.
