Welcome to the South ( Original title: Benvenuti al Sud) is an Italian comedy film from the year 2010 by Luca Miniero. It is a remake of the French film Welcome to the Sticks that closely modeled on the original. 2012 appeared the sequel Welcome to the North ( Italian Benvenuti al Nord).

Action

Alberto Colombo works at the post and dreams with his wife Silvia of being transferred to Milan. He even tried to sneak to advantage by posing as a disabled person in a wheelchair, but it flies on. Instead of going to Milan Alberto is set for two years to Castellabate in the south of Italy to become head of the local post office there. Expectations are influenced by stereotypes: the Camorra, high crime, laziness, weird food, unintelligible language.

At the new place Alberto is received by the postal workers Mattia and he spends the first night with him and his domineering mother. The beginning at the post office it is not easy. He relates the service apartment, for which have collected some pieces of furniture the new colleagues. Mattia is in love with his colleague Maria, but because of his strict mother he lacks the courage to make serious efforts to Maria. Over time, Alberto used to the new environment and befriends with his colleagues. But his wife remained in the north, he talks about how terrible everything is in the south because they want to hear this. When she comes to visit him, staging his colleagues and the villagers a reception below the village with machine guns, rumliegendem garbage, begging children to meet their expectations.

When this tall story blows up, Silvia wants to separate from him. Alberto Mattia and agree that they clarify their respective problems, Mattia with his mother and Mary, Alberto with his wife. At an evening dance party in which Mattia his colleague Maria makes a marriage proposal and the planned fireworks uncontrolled goes into the air, everything dissolves into thin air.
