Beppu-ÅŒita Marathon

The Beppu - Oita Marathon (Japanese別府 大分 毎日 マラソン, Beppu Oita Mainichi Marason, . Official designation Beppu - Oita Mainichi engl Marathon ) in Japan often abbreviated to Betsudai Marathon (別大マラソン, Betsudai marason ), a Marathon run for male Elite, which takes place between the Japanese cities of Beppu Oita and since 1952. After more than 35 km was run in the first year, since 1953, the full distance of 42.195 km will be covered. The course is a turning point distance between the two cities. Until 1983 was the start of Beppu, Oita since then. The race is organized by the Association of Athletics Federations Oita. The main sponsor is the Mainichi Shimbun.

Twice a world record was set at this event: 1963 by Tōru Terasawa and 1978 by Shigeru Sō.
