Berbere

Berbere ( Amharic በርበሬ bärbärre, Tigrinya: በርበረ bärbärä ) is a hot spice mixture, which is native to the Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine and there plays an important role.

The preparation of the mixture can be no single recipe, but key ingredients are chili pepper, ginger, cinnamon, garlic, clove, coriander seeds, allspice, ajwain and the dried fruit of the rue. In addition, can also be found outside of Ethiopia, little-known ingredients, such as fruit of the pepper bar.
