Berberis candidula

The Snowy barberry (Berberis candidula ), also known as Evergreen Cushion barberry, a plant belonging to the family of Barberry is ( Berberidaceae ). She comes from western China and was introduced in 1895 by Père Farges.

Description

The Snowy barberry is a small, dichtwüchsiger, evergreen shrub. The bark of the one-year branches are only loosely covered with blackish warts. The small leaves are glossy dark green above and silvery white hand, their edges are bent slightly. The leaf spines are three parts and up to 2 cm long. The solitary flowers are pale yellow. The elliptical berries are blue and black frosting.

Use

Like many other barberries place this species as an ornamental use.

With the warty barberry (Berberis verruculosa ) forms the Snowy barberry Berberis × frikartii the hybrids.

With the ordinary Oregon grape ( Mahonia aquifolium ) is the Snowy barberry genus hybrids x Mahoberberis aquicandidula.
