Berg im Donaugau Abbey

The monastery mountain in Donaugau is a former Benedictine monastery. The monastery is well documented in records under the name monasterium ad Perge, however, it is not known where it was.

History

The St. Salvator, consecrated monastery was founded in 768-772 by a Bavarian nobleman named Wolchanhard. From May 18 875 a certificate is handed down in the King Louis the German, built by him Old Chapel in Regensburg handed the mountain monastery. With the Hungarian invasions in the 10th century, the abbey was apparently based; In 1019 Berg was only attested as an ordinary farm.
