Berge Meere und Giganten

Mountains and seas giants is an experimental novel by Alfred Doblin, who appeared in 1924 in S. Fischer Verlag in Berlin. In 1932, under the title of giants. An adventure book is a highly modified, shortened version published.

It tells the development of mankind from the 23 to the 28 century. Starting from the situation in the 20th century, which is mediated in a flashback, and the rivalry between the West and the East in the 23rd century, a balance of power, which decays in a Ural war in the 27th century developed. Migration from the victorious East and the collapse of political order in Europe and North America and continued progress in the de-industrialization push to open up new habitats on the island of Greenland. The melting of the ice sheet awakened prehistoric monsters to life, which in turn, opposed by the so-called giants, organic creations of man.

The novel is divided into nine books.
