Berit Ã…s

Berit Ås ( born April 10, 1928 in Fredrikstad ) is a Norwegian politician and a social psychologist. She taught from 1969 at the University of Oslo, last from 1991 until her retirement in 1994 as professor.

Berit Ås put her research focus primarily on women's culture, economy and the development of techniques of domination, what she wrote in 1979 the book The five techniques of domination. She is an honorary doctorates from the universities of Copenhagen, Halifax and Uppsala. She was chairman of the Norwegian Foundation Women's University from 1983.

Berit Ås also made ​​in the Norwegian policy a name, so she was Chair of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti at its founding in 1975. She was a member of the Storting since 1973, and is one winner of the Rachel Carson Award.
