Berlin-Liga

The Berlin- Liga ( League Association until 2008 in Berlin ) is the highest football league in the area of the Berlin Football Association ( OFA ) and the sixth highest leagues in the German league system. The season champion rises directly in the Oberliga West and gets the title of the Berlin football champion.

History

Until the dissolution of the GDR and the associated fusion of East and West Berlin at the Berlin State existed on the west side the league and on east side of the district league as the highest Berliner leagues. After the German reunification, the date in the German Football Association (DFV ) organized in East Berlin football clubs were incorporated on 20 November 1990 by then West Berlin competent BFV. This was also formulated the goal to build a new single-track top flight for Berlin as a whole.

Already before the East Berlin district league was abolished and included as a second season in the pre-existing West Berlin division, both squadrons were still separated into East and West for the season 1990/91. The national league parent Oberliga Berlin was also dissolved after this season and integrated for 1991/92 season in the seasons north and center of the newly created Oberliga Nordost. These include the division of Berlin ( not, however, to west and east separated) was continued for two seasons. At the start of the 1992/93 season finally launched the single-track Association League Berlin with the game operation. After the end of the season 2007/ 08, there was a renewed League structural reform in the German football league. These included the introduction of a new single-track 3 League, which until then third-tier regional leagues were viertklassig. All leagues within the Northeast German Football Association ( NOFV ) were also promoted to the valence of a class down. Due to the reform there was in season a revised qualifying format for promotion to the NOFV- Oberliga Nord: In addition to the Berlin master directly qualified the runner-up of the fifth division also received two relegation matches against second placed the Association League Saxony -Anhalt the chance to advance to the Oberliga. For the season 2008/ 09 the Association League Berlin launched for the first time under its new name Berlin- League.
