The train station Berlin- Schoeneweide is a regional and S-Bahn station in the district Niederschoeneweide in the Berlin district of Treptow- Köpenick. It is located on the railway line Berlin- Görlitz ( Görlitz line ). The station was one of the three significant railway stations in East Berlin. To him belonged to a now disused yard. The official railroad operation Jobs Directory of S-Bahn station is managed under the symbol BSW and the station below the symbol BSWP.

History

The station, initially only a breakpoint at the foothills of the rural community Niederschoeneweide, was established on 24 May 1868, the Görlitz line. It was initially referred to as New Jug, the name goes back to a restaurant nearby. In 1874 was renamed the New Pitcher - Locust valley, the rural community Johannistal was also located near the breakpoint. In the years 1880-1882 they built the breakpoint for Niederschoeneweide station - from locust valley.

As the industry developed rapidly in low and Oberschoeneweide, in this area a particularly high number of tracks was recorded. In addition to the State Railway also wrong road and industrial railways, the latter referred to as Bull car. 1890/1891 a branch line to Spindler field was threaded from the station; this would later be a test track for the electric suburban passenger, later Berlin S-Bahn.

The rural community Niederschoeneweide reached that the station was renamed in 1896 in Niederschoeneweide locust valley, because they had for a co-funded the route extension to Spindler field and had to the other several companies private industrial railway connections to the rail network at this address. The establishments in Oberschoeneweide how the established by Emil Rathenau, AEG factory halls, had a siding by a 1889 built wooden bridge over the river Spree. Today is at this point the Stubenrauch bridge.

Due to the dense construction of the high lapping the route was necessary to separate them from private. At the same time long-distance of the suburb were separated tracks and expanded the Beautiful Weider Station plant in the course of this measure to today's six tracks. On May 1, 1906, the conversion was complete.

The second electric suburban traffic, the Schoeneweide got to face this time came from the other direction closer to the station. The "Great electrification " went on Schoeneweide further out by Spindler field and after Grunau. On November 6, 1928, the first electric suburban train reached the station. 1929 got its still valid name Schoeneweide the train station.

The Second World War and the subsequent division of Berlin predominantly in the GDR running route of the Görlitz line now lacked the financial statements on the Görlitz station because he was lying unable to reach West Berlin. The trains were therefore exposed to the railway stations ( Baumschulenweg, Beautiful pasture, Adlershof and Grunau ) and moved to Lichtenberg. Beautiful pasture was the most important of these stations. The railway stations in Adlershof and Grunau lost already in the 1950s again their tasks in regional transport and passenger were second only to S-Bahn operated.

The Schoeneweide station served not only the traffic in the direction of the Görlitz line, but also took some of the traffic to other regions in the southern part of the GDR. There were plans to train station to the third major railway station of the capital of the GDR (next to Ostbahnhof, Hauptbahnhof later, and Lichtenberg ) expand. That did not happen, the entire long-distance transport in Schoeneweide was always handled by a single platform.

Through the six-lane expansion of Highway 96 adjacent the connection between the station and the town center was lost.

After the fall of the long-distance transport was gradually transferred to the rail or to Lichtenberg, however, the regional transport remained for the time being. Due to a need of rehabilitation bridge at Ostkreuz ended now or formerly began moving to or from Berlin -Lichtenberg regional trains Beautiful pasture.

In 2009, the south adjacent to the railway station marshalling yard of the S -Bahn was profoundly renewed.

The timetable change on 11 December 2011, the regional transport in Schoeneweide was adjusted due to construction for several years. The last ending here trains the line OE36 from Frankfurt ( Oder) King Wusterhausen ride since then on the Berlin outer ring directly to Berlin- Lichtenberg station.

The plan is to pierce the pedestrian tunnel to the southwest and to build for the tram a private tunnel through the embankment in extension of the Bridge street.
