Bernard Rogers

Bernard Rogers ( born February 4, 1893 in New York City; † May 24, 1968 in Rochester / New York) was an American composer.

Rogers studied with Arthur Farwell, Ernest Bloch, Nadia Boulanger and Frank Bridge. From 1929 to 1967 he taught composition at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. His pupils included William Bergsma, David Diamond, John Diercks, Walter Hartley, Gardner Read, H. Owen Reed, Ulysses Kay and John Weinzweig.

He composed five operas, five symphonies and other orchestral works, chamber music, three cantatas, choral works and songs.
