Bernd Helmschrot
Bernd Helmschrot, ( born March 18, 1947) is a former German football goalkeeper. He completed his active career in 107 games in the Bundesliga and 277 games in the second division. It was used twice in the amateur national team in 1968.
Playing career
Helmschrot already played in the Youth for Hannover 96 since 1965, he belonged to the squad of amateur team in the national league Lower Saxony. In 1967 he enlisted as a reserve goalkeeper on in the league. He made his debut on 17 February 1968 under the new coach Karl -Heinz Mulhouse in the Bundesliga, against Hamburger SV. The game ended 2-2. The next nine games into the season was only Helmschrot in goal for the Reds. Only in the last two games came the actual reserve goalkeeper Horst Grunenberg used. Overall, he came to 48 Bundesliga appearances for Hannover until 1971. During this time he also came two appearances in the German amateur national team. Since 1968 he was licensed players. He also came to three appearances for Hannover Fairs Cup.
After he could not displace the goalkeeper of Hanover Horst Podlasly he transferred in 1971 to the 1860 Munich. For the " lions ", he also played 68 Bundesliga games. In the 1973/74 season he was a regular goalkeeper Offenbacher Kickers and stood in 25 games in goal. He then moved to the second league to TSR Olympia Wilhelmshaven. However, he returned after a season in Wilhelmshaven to Kickers Offenbach and denied for the OFC still 146 games in the Bundesliga 2.
In 1979 he moved to SC Viktoria Köln for which he played 67 second division games until 1981. From 1982 to 1984 he played for SC Fortuna Köln. With the Fortuna he reached the 1983 DFB Cup final, which was lost to the 1 FC Cologne and still came to a further 60 missions in the 2nd Division. Then he let his active career in the Oberliga Nord at TSR Olympia Wilhelmshaven end with which he was still 57 times in league matches in goal.
In the season 1996/97 he was the third division Wilhelmshaven 92 as the SV Wilhelmshaven called temporarily worked as a goalkeeping coach.
