Bernd Lange

Bernd Lange ( * November 14, 1955 in Oldenburg O. i ) is a German politician. He was from 1994 to 2004 MEP in the SPD / SPE Group; Since July 2009 he is again an MEP in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament.

Life

Long grew up and attended school in Varel. The high school he was on the Graf- Anton -Günther - school, secondary school in Oldenburg in 1974. The study of Protestant theology and political science at the University of Göttingen, he graduated in 1980 with the theological examination and in 1981 the first state exam. In 1979, he joined as a student in the union. From 1978 to 1980 he was president of the Student Parliament at the University of Göttingen. 1980/1981 he was chairman of the student union at the University of Göttingen. From 1983 to 1994 he worked as a secondary school teacher Burgdorf. Between 2005 and 2009, Long worked as Head of the " economy and Europe" at DGB district Lower Saxony - Bremen - Sachsen / Anhalt. There he was responsible for economic and structural policy in Lower Saxony, implementation of EU structural funding, establishment of a regional trade network ( Union -Regio -Net) with trade unions from the partner regions of Lower Saxony: OPZZ Greater Poland, Solidarity Greater Poland, CFDT Haute -Normandie and UGT Andalusia.

Bernd Lange is married and has one daughter and exercised the guardianship of a young man from. He lives in Burgdorf (Region Hannover).

Party

In 1974, he joined as a student of the SPD. 1983 to 1984 he was a member of the Young Socialists district board of Hannover. Since 1986 he is member of the sub-district executive of the SPD Hannover -Land ( now Region Hannover). Chairman of the SPD in Burgdorf it from 1992 to 2013. Political career

During his first time in the European Parliament he sat priorities in the areas future of the automotive industry, car and environment, industry, environmental and research policy and Lower Saxony and the EU. In the European Parliament he was a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Policy and substitute member of the Committee on Industry, External Trade, Research and Energy. He was involved in more than 30 jurisdictions in the Conciliation Committee between the European Parliament and the Council, with several of them as negotiators of Parliament. After the elections to the European Parliament in 2009 he became a member of the Committee on International Trade and substitute member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. He is a member of the Delegation for Relations with South Africa.

On 24 February 1999 he was the British Automobile awarded the AA Award 1998 Association for its participation in the European emissions legislation to improve air quality. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon 2001.

Since 2000, he was with Malcolm Harbour, one of the co-chairs of the Forum " Automobile and Society". In 2010 he was re-elected Co - Chairman of the Forum.

Lange has been appointed on 15 June 2010 to the Parliament's rapporteur for European industrial policy and since February 2012, he is trade policy spokesman for his group.

In November 2011, Lange was awarded the MEP Award from The Parliament Magazine, awarded in the field of trade.

From October 1999 until August 2005 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Salzgitter AG. Since August 2005 he is member of the Supervisory Board of Peine GmbH carrier.
