Bernhard Eichhorn

Bernhard Eichhorn ( born April 17, 1904 in Schortewitz; † February 6, 1980 in Mies Bach; native Bernhard Guenther Eichhorn ) was a German conductor and composer.

Life

Eichhorn studied in Munich music and theater sciences and attended the State Academy of Music. In 1929 he was Kapellmeister at the Bavarian State Theatre, then at the Bavarian State Theater and finally to the Munich Chamber games. In the season 1931/32 he worked at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm.

1933/34, he conducted again at Munich stages before music director of the Municipal Theater in Dresden in 1934. Here he remained until the general theater lock 1944. Starting from 1940, he worked increasingly as a film composer. Especially frequently he worked there for productions Helmut Käutner, but also the Ganghofer adaptations by film producer Peter Ostermayr and other home movies were accompanied by his music.

Immediately after the war Eichhorn had returned to the Munich Chamber games, since 1946, he worked as a freelancer. Except for feature films, he composed the music for several documentaries yet.
