Bernhard Seeger

Bernhard Seeger ( born October 6, 1927 in Roßlau on the Elbe, † March 14, 1999 in Potsdam ) was a German writer.

Life

Bernhard Seeger was the son of a locksmith. He attended middle school and then a teacher training college in Köthen. In 1944, he joined the NSDAP. After completing his work of service in Zerbst, he took 1944/45, a soldier in the Wehrmacht in World War II in part. From May to December 1945 he was in Soviet captivity.

After his return from captivity Seeger graduated from a course for new teachers. In 1946 he joined the SED and the FDJ. Between 1946 and 1952 he worked as a teacher in village schools in the Mark Brandenburg. 1952/53, he was an editor in the publishing house New Life; 1953-1956 he worked as a freelance writer in pieces at Potsdam. In 1954/55 he spent as a reporter in Vietnam; then he was Head of the Secretariat of the German Writers' Association and from 1957 again freelance writer.

In 1967, Seeger was a long time write disabled because of a serious accident. After he had been a member since 1964, the Potsdam district leadership of the SED, he was from 1967 a member of the Central Committee of the SED. Between 1953 and 1972 he was informer of the Ministry of State Security of the GDR.

Bernhard Seeger wrote reports, short stories, novel, and poetry; He was best known for his radio and television games. Seegers toe the party line works deal mainly problems of the construction phase of GDR society; the highly acclaimed by the GDR criticism work " autumn smoke " about the collectivization of agriculture in the GDR between 1959 /60 strongly influenced by Sholokhov's " Virgin Soil Upturned ".
