Bernhard Steffen (footballer)

Bernhard Steffen ( born June 1, 1937) is a former German football national team.

The Krefeld began his career at Linner game club, before moving to Fortuna Dusseldorf 1957. From 1957 to 1966 he played 225 games in the league, second and Regional League West for Fortuna in which he scored 51 goals. He also played in the DFB Cup finals on December 29, 1957 against Bayern Munich on November 16, 1958 against VfB Stuttgart under coach Hermann Lindemann. Both games, however, were lost. He stood still in the Bundesliga squad in the season 1966/1967 but was no longer in the Bundesliga for use. Due to an injury he had to end his career in 1966. |

On April 2, 1958 he played his first international match at the 2:3 defeat against Czechoslovakia. For the World Cup 1958 in Sweden but then it should not be enough for him. On 11 May 1960, he was then a second and also the last time for the DFB team in the 0-1 home defeat against Ireland on the court. His son Horst was also footballer and played more than 200 games in the Bundesliga.
