Bert Pronk

Bert Pronk ( born October 24, 1950 in Scheveningen, † 15 March 2005 in the Algarve (Portugal ) ) was a Dutch cyclist. His greatest successes came in 1977, when he won the Holland Tour and the Tour du Luxembourg.

Pronk was during his playing days as a promising time riders and mountain specialist. Making its debut at the Tour de France 1976, he wore several days the white jersey as best young rider. At the end of the tour, he finished 26th place. The following year he improved in the overall standings to 12th place. Even in 1977 the team moved Pronk Ti Raleigh team for IJsboerke. His career success thereupon broke off abruptly.

A year later he returned to Ti - Raleigh, but did not go back to its former potential. Characteristic for the Tour de France in 1980, to kick off in the team time trial when he lost so much time that he was disqualified.

Bert Pronk died on 15 March 2005 at the age of 54 years to cancer.
