Berylliumtellurid is an inorganic chemical compound of beryllium from the group of Telluride.
Production and representation
Berylliumtellurid can be obtained by reaction of beryllium with tellurium at 1100 ° C in a hydrogen stream.
Properties
Berylliumtellurid is a gray powder which decomposes relatively quickly in moist air to hydrogen telluride. With water this reaction takes place lively. Berylliumtellurid crystallizes in the cubic zinc blende type with space group F43m. It is a group II-VI compound semiconductor having a band gap of 2.8 eV.
