Besim Bokshi

Besim Bokshi ( Serbo-Croatian spelling: Besim Bokši; born November 12, 1930 in Đakovica ) is a Kosovo Albanian poet and linguist. In his native Kosovo, he was also active as a politician.

Life

As his family moved to Albania, Besim Bokshi grew up in Vlora and Tirana and returned only in 1945 returned to his native town of Gjakova. He studied at the University of Belgrade and received his doctorate in 1974 at the University of Prishtina, where he worked as a lecturer in linguistics ever since. Since 1966, he published two volumes of poetry. Since 1996 he has been a regular member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.

Besim Bokshi since the early 1990s, member of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo, in the years 1994 to 2000 he was chairman of the party.
