Beslan Butba

Beslan Butba ( Abkhaz Беслан Быҭәба / Bytuba Beslan, Russian Беслан Бутба / Beslan Butba; born February 7, 1960 in Tschlou, Rajon Otschamtschire, Abkhaz ASSR, Georgian SSR, Soviet Union ) is an Abkhazian construction and media entrepreneur and politician.

Life

Beslan Butba went to his home village of the Abkhaz capital Sukhumi and Tschlou to school. After that, he studied civil engineering in Moscow, where he first worked also after graduation in 1983. After the political changes in the Soviet Union, he worked in the private construction sector. During the Abkhaz " War of Independence " in the early 1990s, he supported his Abkhaz compatriots by organizing aid transports and medical care for the wounded in Moscow clinics. In the late 1990s he returned from Moscow in his homes in Abkhazia, where he actively politically engaged. From 2002 to 2007 he was a deputy of the Abkhazian Parliament. In September 2007 he was elected chairman of the Party of Economic Development of Abkhazia ( Partija ERA ). In the same year he founded the first non-state TV stations Abkhazia, Abaza TV. In the presidential elections in Abkhazia on 12 December 2009 he stood as a candidate for the office of the Abkhaz head of state.

Since 2005 Butba is also chairman of the Abkhazian football clubs Nart Sukhum.
